Mentor Mom
A program that offers support, education, community connection, and friendship, while striving to encourage positive parenting and life skills.
Mission
To offer support, education, and friendship to mothers of all ages. We strive to encourage positive parenting and life skills by providing a safe, inclusive environment where all mothers are honored and welcomed.
Details
The Mentor Mom Program has transitioned away from the mentor-mentee relationship to a peer-support relationship that allows mothers from similar backgrounds and situations to gain friendship and support one another. It takes a village to raise children, and not everyone has one. Mentor Mom strives to help moms build positive, supportive friendships, which creates that “village” they may not have at home.
Each month, we provide a meeting for all participants to attend. This meeting provides a safe environment for the exchange of information of interest to new and experienced mothers alike. The mission for these meetings is to address the problems and everyday challenges of raising children in a personal, positive, and supportive way. We help one another explore new options, problem-solve, and build connections with other mothers just like us. We also invite community organizations to share resources and present interesting topics to discuss in an all-inclusive manner with the goal of each mother leaving feeling supported and capable. Childcare and a meal are provided at no cost.
All participants in the Mentor Mom Program must be parenting or currently expecting a child.
